ENDORSEMENTS FOR GORDON
John McDonnell, Labour MP and former Shadow Chancellor
Gordon and I have campaigned together over decades and I can’t think of anyone better to have alongside you when going into a struggle. Gordon has a track record of hard working dedication to representing our members. He has devoted his life to our union and brings to this role a depth of experience, skills and abilities built up over so many years of trade union activities. I urge you to support him.”
Dot Gibson, former Secretary of the National Pensioners’ Convention
I have no hesitation in giving my support to Gordon Lean in his election bid to represent retired members on the Unite the Union Executive Council.
I have known Gordon for a long time in his role as Chair of the South East Region of the National Pensioners Convention (SENPeC) and worked together with him in my role as General Secretary of NPC before I retired. He worked tirelessly to ensure that the voice of Pensioners was heard and listened to in the South East and I am sure would do the same as the Executive Council Member for retired people within Unite.
It is particularly important to have representatives who speak up to defend today’s and tomorrow’s pensioners’ hard won rights, and my experience of Gordon Lean is that he does speak up.
Joe Bleach, South East Regional Chair
I’m very happy to endorse Gordon Lean in the forthcoming Executive Council bi-election for the Retired Members seat.
For many years Gordon has worked tirelessly for members across the region.
I’m confident Gordon will continue to pursue the best interests, and fight for the rights of his members if elected to the retired members seat.
John Rowse, former Unite South East Regional Secretary
I have no hesitation in giving my support to Gordon in his election bid to represent our retired members on our Executive Council.
I have known Gordon for many years and worked closely together when he was South East Regional Chair. He worked tirelessly to ensure that the voice of the lay membership was heard and listened to at the top of our Union and I’m sure he will ensure that continued accountability if elected as our Executive Councillor.
