In every Unite region and nation the Regional Secretary will currently be convening Constitutional conferences to elect:
- Regional Industrial Sector Committees (RISCs)
- Regional Equalities Committees (download information on who can attend the Equalities conferences)
- Regional Area Activists’ Committees
NB: Branch Officers as well as workplace reps are entitled to attend the Regional Constitutional Conferences.
You will have received two forms: the first is to confirm attendance, the second to confirm you wish to stand for the relevant committee. Both should be filled in and returned to the region, in line with the appropriate deadline.
- Time and place of the conference
- The regional officer to contact if you have not received your invitation.
- The deadline for sending in your nomination – very important.
SEND IN YOUR NOMINATON FORMS ASAP
It is more crucial now than ever that we elect good left members on to the committees.
Nominations sent in by mail by the deadline take precedence over nominations made at the conferences.
So – please send in your nomination form for the committees you are standing for as soon as possible.
At the conference you will receive a piece of paper with a breakdown of the constituencies that will make up your committee. You will need to identify the left colleagues from those constituencies to make up the committee and make sure they get elected.
Rule 6 changes take effect at these elections
This is the first round of elections in which changes to Rule 6 passed at the last Rules conference in 2022 will be put in effect..
Rule 6 defines who can be elected onto Unite’s Committees.
