Consultants say:
“The junior doctors’ renewed mandate makes us stronger together. As such, consultants and junior doctors will stand together by taking joint strike action for the first time. However, as with previous strikes we will ensure that patients are kept safe by ensuring that emergency services remain in place.
“On 19 September, consultants will strike and deliver Christmas Day levels of care only as with previous consultant strikes. Junior Doctors will work as usual.
“On 20 September, both junior doctors and consultants will strike with both junior doctors and consultants maintaining Christmas Day levels of care only. This means that, while emergency care will be provided by both branches of practice, no elective care should take place.
“From Oct 2-4 both consultants and junior doctors will strike together with both groups providing Christmas Day levels of care only.”
