Last night we received the news that our members at Goodlord, who have been on continuous strike action since 22 February against ‘Fire and Rehire’, have all been dismissed.

The new contracts saw members pay cut by up to £6,000 per annum, dropping well below the London Living Wage.

During the dispute the company have used temps to cover work (currently being investigated by the Agency Inspectorate) created a hostile environment for members and have refused to increase pay to the London Living Wage, resulting in their Living Wage accreditation being revoked.

We re-balloted members on these issues and within three days of the action under the revised mandate our members have been sacked.

During ACAS talks they have rejected all of our requests to resolve the dispute and refused to cost any of our demands.

They are an anti-union organisation and were determined not to give in nor to allow the union in their workplaces, hence the dismissal and refusal to make any concessions to allow our members back to work.

We are currently assessing our legal options.

We want to send a strong signal to the company that Unite will stand by our members, we will not be going away and we will continue to target them until we reach an acceptable settlement .

As part of this campaign, we are holding a protest outside of the Goodlord offices (1 – 6 Huguenot Place, Heneage Street, London, E1 5LN – off Brick Lane) on Tuesday 25th May at 11.00, following the dismissal of our members taking legal strike action.

Please come along to the protest on Tuesday to show your solidarity with the members at Goodlord and to show them that Unite will not tolerate attacks on our legal right to take strike action.
