Angry Unite members protested on Tuesday 17 December from 8am-4pm and will do so again on Wednesday 18 December – at Gate 1, Vauxhall (IBC Luton), Kimpton Road, Luton, LU2 0JX.
The Luton Stellantis workers also held a rally on Tuesday 17th.
Unite is demanding that plans to shut the profit-making electric van factory are halted. CEO Carlos Tavares announced his own departure just days after the proposal to close the site was announced.Tavares suddenly left Stellantis at the beginning of this month after his ruthless cost cutting to drive up short-term profits damaged the company’s global operations.
Unite is calling on Stellantis to withdraw the deadline for redundancies imposed under Carlos Tavares’ regime, and allow for proper negotiations between workers, management and government over the future of the plant.
